Garden Event Day – Open to the Public

Between workshop days, on Sunday July 24, we are welcoming our friends from the textile community to join us at our SFS Studio Annex in Berkeley, CA to chat, share work and enjoy a beautiful day in the garden. Yoshiko Wada, Dr. Tomoko Torimaru, Atsushi Futatsuya, and Asif Sheikh (a master embroiderer from Ahmedabad, India) will be in attendance. Atsushi and Sheikh will have an Exhibit & Sale of their textiles demonstrating the mastery in stitchery rooted in Japan and India.
In the morning of the Public Garden Event at the SFS Annex, Asif Shaikh, a master embroiderer and founder of Craft Design Society Art Foundation (CDS Art Foundation) will be hosting a demonstration & Talk on a variety of Indian embroidery techniques showcasing his exquisite embroidered items. He is a long-time friend of the World Shibori Network and participated in the 10th International Shibori Symposium (ISS) in Oaxaca, Mexico in 2016, 10th ISS (2016): Shibori, Ikat, and Sustainability: Land, Culture, and People.
